Full-Time Permanent Position with Benefits
A Cleveland, Ohio-area manufacture is hiring an experienced Centerless Grinder. In this role, you will be responsible for the complete setup, operation, and teardown of centerless grinding machines to produce high-precision parts that conform strictly to customer specifications.
Responsibilities- Complete the full setup of centerless grinding machines, including selecting and installing all required tooling, making precise machine adjustments, and setting up staging/gaging.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering schematics, and job routings to accurately determine part specifications, tolerances, and order requirements.
- Perform first-piece production inspection to verify conformance, ensuring all initial dimensions perfectly match print specifications before running production.
- Routinely inspect production parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards.
- Dress grinding wheels as required to maintain precise dimensional sizing and specified micro-finishes.
- Perform efficient teardown of setups after job completion. Clean and organize tooling to protect assets from damage or loss.
- Learn and practice daily preventative maintenance on machinery. Identify and report any equipment conditions requiring repair to the department supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area daily, ensuring the floor around the machine is kept free of oil. Strictly adhere to all safety rules and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Assist, instruct, and cross-train co-workers as needed to support a highly efficient team environment.
Requirements- High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education.
- Strong foundational understanding of precision grinding processes and metal/material properties.
- Proven ability to read and accurately interpret blueprint specifications and manufacturing documents.
- Demonstrated experience using and reading various precision inspection and measuring devices.
- Solid shop math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with fractional/decimal conversions.
- Strong reasoning skills with the ability to define issues, collect data, and solve mechanical or dimensional problems.
- Effective communication skills, a strong sense of urgency/responsiveness, and a willingness to participate in continuing education programs.
