    Position Overview: Oxford Community Schools is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher for our new Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) center â Keystone Learning Center. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Director of Special Education Programs (or designee) to provide exceptional educational services to students with ASD in a supportive and structured environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Required:

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred).

    • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or eligibility to obtain such endorsement.

    • Minimum of two years' experience working with students with ASD.

    • Knowledge of evidence-based practices for students with ASD.

    • Understanding of special education laws and regulations.

    • Experience with behavior management techniques and developing positive behavior support plans.

    • Proficiency in data collection and progress monitoring.

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

    • Preferred:

    • Experience in a center-based or self-contained special education classroom.

    • Training in specialized ASD methodologies.

    • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and assistive technology.

    • Experience with transition planning and programming.

    • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or willingness to obtain.

    • Knowledge or willingness for medical emergency training.

    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with ASD, ensuring alignment with state standards and evidence-based practices.
    • Design and deliver specialized instruction using research-based methodologies specific to students with ASD.
    • Implement positive behavior support plans and appropriate interventions to address challenging behaviors.
    • Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
    • Collaborate with related service providers (SLP, OT, PT, etc.) to ensure integrated service delivery.
    • Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program information.
    • Supervise and provide guidance to assigned paraprofessionals in the classroom.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in supporting students with ASD.
    • Deep understanding of the characteristics and educational needs of students with ASD across developmental levels.
    • Ability to create and maintain a structured, supportive learning environment.
    • Skill in differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
    • Commitment to student dignity and independence.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
    • Physical ability to fulfill the duties of the position, including possible participation in physical management techniques when necessary.
    • Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.

    • Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance.

    Salary: Per Oxford Education Association Salary Schedule
