Position Overview:Oxford Community Schools is seeking dedicated Paraprofessionals to support our new Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) center â Keystone Learning Center. The paraprofessional will work under the direction of the ASD classroom teacher and Director of Special Education Programs (or designee) to provide essential educational and behavioral support to students with ASD. An additional $2.00 per hour extra duty pay will be included as part of the compensation plan for these positions.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Previous experience working with children with special needs, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder.

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn evidence-based practices for supporting students with ASD.

  • Ability to maintain a calm, patient approach when working with challenging behaviors.

  • Physical ability to assist students as needed throughout the school day.

  • Preferred:

  • Experience in a classroom setting supporting students with ASD

  • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or willingness to obtain

  • First Aid and CPR certification

  • Knowledge or willingness for medical emergency training

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional activities and behavior support plans for students with ASD.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students following teacher-designed lessons.
  • Implement behavior management techniques consistent with each student's behavior support plan.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, including personal care when necessary.
  • Support students in developing communication, social, and functional skills.
  • Collect data on student behavior and academic progress as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with classroom organization, material preparation, and maintaining a structured learning environment.
  • Support students during transitions between activities and locations throughout the school day.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
  • Participate in required professional development and team meetings.
  • Understanding of the characteristics and needs of students with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and implement behavior plans consistently.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Comfort with data collection procedures and basic technology.
  • Physical stamina to engage with active students throughout the school day.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing student needs.
  • Commitment to maintaining student dignity and promoting independence.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

2026-2027 Hourly Rate: Base $17.20 plus $2.00 extra duty pay for a range of $19.20 â $23.77, commensurate with experience
