The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving dump trucks and vacuum (vac) trucks between intrastate company job sites; moves include aggregates, muck, materials, equipment, and related loads. Primary focus is dump truck and vac truck operations.
- Safely operate company dump trucks on public roads, construction sites, aggregate yards, landfills, and other designated locations.
- Transport and deliver materials according to dispatch instructions and scheduled routes.
- Safely raise and lower the dump body and ensure the load is completely discharged before leaving the unloading area.
- Secure and inspect loads as required.
- Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report defects, damage, or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, delivery tickets, load tickets, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
- Follow all applicable FMCSA/DOT regulations, Nevada requirements, company policies, and customer/job-site safety rules.
- Maintain compliance with applicable hours-of-service requirements.
- Monitor vehicle condition, including tires, brakes, lights, fluids, hydraulics, suspension, and dump-body components.
- Report mechanical problems and maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance department.
- Keep the assigned truck clean and in safe operating condition.
- Follow proper procedures when entering and leaving construction sites, landfills, aggregate facilities, and other restricted areas.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, loaders, equipment operators, supervisors, and other drivers.
- Use safe backing procedures and follow spotter instructions when required.
- Maintain awareness of pedestrians, equipment, vehicles, overhead hazards, power lines, and changing job-site conditions.
- Complete assigned loads efficiently while maintaining safety as the highest priority.
- Comply with company policies regarding fuel, vehicle use, accident reporting, inspections, and workplace conduct.
- Immediately report accidents, incidents, citations, property damage, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities
Safety is an essential responsibility of this position. The driver is expected to:
- Operate the vehicle defensively and safely at all times.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow posted speed limits and reduced-speed requirements at job sites.
- Never operate a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, fatigue, or any other condition that could affect safe operation.
- Never bypass or disable safety equipment.
- Follow proper procedures for dumping on uneven, soft, or unstable surfaces.
- Ensure the dump body is fully lowered before traveling on public roads.
- Maintain safe following distances.
- Use seat belts at all times.
- Follow all company accident and emergency procedures.
Basic Qualifications
- Commercial Driver License Class B.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid US drivers’ license with good driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and Background check.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Manual transmission driving capability (strongly preferred).
- 1+ years of experience driving with a CDL Class B.
- Experience operating dump trucks (end dump, belly dump, and/or side dump) and/or vacuum trucks.
- Good communication skills.
- Displays a willingness to work hard and be at the job on time.
Additional Requirements
- Position may require extended hours and weekend work.
- Ability to lift and haul 50 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, bend, push and pull.
- Position will require outdoor work.
