Job Summary
Seeking a dependable, safety-focused Delivery Driver / CDL Class B Truck Driver to support our architectural millwork operations. The position performs daily vendor pickups, deliveries to active job sites throughout the New York metropolitan area, and periodic interstate transportation between our Long Island City, NY operations and production facility in Kingston, PA. The driver will operate company vans and up to 26-foot commercial box truck and must possess current and maintain all required CDL, medical, and DOT qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete daily pickups from vendors and suppliers throughout New York City, Long Island, and the surrounding metropolitan area.
- Deliver architectural millwork, materials, tools, and equipment to active construction/job sites.
- Complete periodic interstate trips between Long Island City, NY and Kingston, PA.
- Safely operate company vans and a 26-foot commercial box truck.
- Assist with loading, cargo securement, unloading, and verification of materials before transport.
- Review pickup/delivery instructions and maintain timely communication regarding delays, schedule changes, or delivery concerns.
- Perform required vehicle inspections and promptly report safety, damage, or maintenance concerns.
- Maintain required delivery paperwork, inspection records, logs/records of duty status when applicable, receipts, and transportation documentation.
- Follow company safety procedures and all applicable FMCSA/DOT, New York, and interstate commercial motor vehicle requirements.
- Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe, and professional condition.
- Interact professionally with vendors, customers, contractors, and job-site personnel.
- Assist with Shipping & Receiving and material-handling activities when driving needs permit.
Driver Qualifications & DOT Requirements
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or higher, with appropriate license status for the vehicle(s) operated.
- At least 21 years of age and legally qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce.
- Current DOT medical qualification/Medical Examiner's Certificate, as applicable, and ability to maintain medical qualification.
- Clean and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and continued compliance with company driving standards.
- Must meet applicable FMCSA/DOT driver qualification requirements and remain qualified to perform safety-sensitive driving duties.
- Must successfully complete required pre-employment DOT controlled substances testing and receive a verified negative result before performing covered CDL driving.
- Must satisfy FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse pre-employment eligibility requirements and remain eligible under applicable Clearinghouse rules.
- Must participate in the Company's DOT drug and alcohol testing program, including random and other required testing.
- Knowledge of, or ability to comply with, Hours-of-Service/recordkeeping, vehicle inspection, cargo securement, and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
- Previous experience operating commercial vans and/or 26-foot box trucks strongly preferred.
- Experience navigating New York City, Long Island, and surrounding areas strongly preferred.
- Ability to safely load, secure, handle, and unload millwork and related materials.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, professional communication, and ability to adjust to changing delivery priorities.
