Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Driver with waste collection experience operating an automated side loader. This position is responsible for completing assigned residential collection routes, safely operating the truck and automated arm, and providing professional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate an automated side loader truck to collect residential waste and recycling along assigned routes.

  • Safely position the truck and operate the automated arm to empty carts while avoiding damage to property, vehicles, and equipment.

  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report mechanical issues.

  • Communicate missed pickups, blocked carts, delays, and service concerns to dispatch.

  • Transport collected material to designated disposal or recycling facilities.

  • Maintain accurate inspection reports and required route documentation.

  • Follow traffic laws, applicable DOT requirements, and company safety procedures.

  • Keep the truck cab and equipment clean.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and the public.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at minimum; Class A CDL preferred.

  • Previous waste collection experience operating an automated side loader (ASL) required.

  • Driving record that meets company hiring standards.

  • Ability to safely operate the assigned vehicle, including air-brake-equipped trucks.

  • Ability to meet applicable DOT medical qualifications 

  • Strong awareness of pedestrians, traffic, overhead obstacles, and surrounding property.

  • Dependable attendance, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to perform essential duties, including entering and exiting the truck, moving carts when necessary, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience completing residential waste or recycling routes.

  • Familiarity with route navigation systems and electronic reporting.

  • Strong customer service skills and a consistent commitment to safe driving.
