Position Overview
Our client is hiring CDL-A drivers for a dedicated big-box retail condo fleet delivering dry freight from a regional distribution center in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. Freight on this fleet is dry van retail, mostly no-touch, with driver unload assist at small-format stores, running MD, NJ, PA, VA, WV and the Washington DC area.
Home time is weekly, which makes this a strong fit for drivers who want a predictable routine and a consistent paycheck rather than long, open-ended stretches on the road. Average earnings on this account run $1,510 per week, approximately $78,561 annualized.
Key Responsibilities
You will operate a Class A tractor-trailer safely and legally at all times, completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, monitoring your hours of service, and keeping your logs accurate and current in accordance with federal regulations and company policy.
You will transport freight on schedule across MD, NJ, PA, VA, WV and the Washington DC area, following assigned routes, planning fuel and rest stops sensibly, and communicating proactively with your fleet manager when weather, traffic, or a customer delay puts a delivery window at risk.
Most loads are drop-and-hook. A few small-format stores require a driver unload assist.
Drivers average 1,900 miles a week on set lanes.
You will verify load counts, seals, and paperwork at pickup and delivery, secure freight correctly for transit, and complete bills of lading and delivery documentation accurately so the customer's records and yours agree.
You will represent our client professionally at every customer location, maintain the condition and cleanliness of your assigned equipment, and report mechanical issues promptly so they are addressed before they become a breakdown.
Requirements
A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required, along with a minimum of 3 months of verifiable CDL-A driving experience. You must meet all Department of Transportation qualification requirements and hold a current DOT medical certification.
An acceptable motor vehicle record and safety history are required. You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with all federal testing requirements throughout your employment.
Hiring within 65 miles of Stuarts Draft, VA, plus MD, NJ, PA and WV. Trucks may be taken home within 35 miles of the last delivery where there is safe, secure parking.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior dedicated account experience is preferred, particularly on fleets with consistent, repeating routes where familiarity with the lane and the customer builds real efficiency.
A clean safety record, consistent on-time performance, and a track record of steady tenure with previous carriers all strengthen an application. Drivers who communicate well with dispatch, handle customer contact professionally, and take care of their equipment tend to do well on dedicated accounts like this one.
Compensation and Benefits
Average earnings on this account are $1,510 per week, approximately $78,561 annualized. Pay is made up of: Pay per mile; Bonus incentives.
Home time: Home Weekly. Home weekly for a 34-hour reset. The account operates 24/7 including holidays, and drivers need to be able to work both day and night shifts.
Equipment: top-of-the-line automatic transmission trucks. There are currently 5 openings on this fleet.
