The City of Auburn is seeking a detail-oriented Housing Program Specialist to support our housing assistance programs and community development initiatives. This position helps residents access safe, stable housing while working closely with landlords, partner agencies, and City departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer municipal, state, and federal housing programs, including TBRA
• Review applications, verify eligibility, and maintain program records
• Conduct HQS/NSPIRE and rental housing inspections
• Coordinate landlord participation and tenant case activities
• Support HMIS and Coordinated Entry assessments
• Assist with office administration, purchasing, and records management
• Provide backup support for General Assistance eligibility
• Conduct inspections and fieldwork as a Deputy Local Health Officer

Qualifications:

• associate's degree in public administration, housing, social services, public health, business, or related field-or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years in municipal, nonprofit, housing, or community development work preferred
• Valid Maine driver's license
• Strong organization, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to interpret regulations, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality

This role involves both office and field work, including visits to housing units, businesses, and outdoor sites.
