This is a senior-level technologist role within an invasive cardiovascular laboratory, carrying broader case responsibility and an expectation of technical leadership. The position suits a technologist with substantial catheterization laboratory experience who is ready to take on the more complex end of the case mix and to support the development of less experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide scrub, circulating, and monitoring support across the full range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including complex and higher-acuity cases, maintaining sterile technique and anticipating physician requirements throughout
You will prepare and verify laboratory readiness for scheduled and emergent cases, confirming that imaging systems, hemodynamic monitoring, injectors, and emergency equipment are functional and calibrated, and troubleshooting equipment issues quickly when they arise mid-case
You will operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment within scope, applying radiation safety practice rigorously, and you will acquire, monitor, and record hemodynamic data, interpreting waveforms and recognizing clinically significant changes for immediate escalation
As a senior technologist you will support the training and development of newer staff and students, contribute to procedural standards and protocol review, participate in inventory and vendor coordination, and take a lead role during emergent situations in the laboratory
You will maintain procedural documentation to the standard required for implantable device traceability and radiation dose recording, and you will take a lead role in inventory oversight, working with supply chain and vendors on consignment stock, expiry management, and the introduction of new devices into the laboratory
Requirements
A relevant credential is required, which may include ARRT registration in Radiography, RCIS, or RCES, along with any Oregon credential needed to practice, and graduation from an accredited radiologic or cardiovascular technology program
Substantial prior cardiac catheterization laboratory experience is required, consistent with a senior-level appointment, including independent competence across routine and interventional cases
Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
You must demonstrate confident cardiac rhythm and hemodynamic waveform interpretation, strong sterile technique, and sound judgment under pressure
The role requires the ability to wear lead for extended procedures and to participate in call coverage
Preferred Qualifications
RCIS or RCES certification is strongly preferred
Experience with structural heart procedures such as TAVR or mitral intervention, peripheral vascular work, or electrophysiology support is highly valued at this level
Prior experience precepting or formally training technologists, involvement in protocol development or quality initiatives, familiarity with multiple imaging and hemodynamic platforms, and experience acting as a charge or lead technologist are all advantageous
Willingness to take a lead role in call rotation is valued, as is experience supporting the introduction of new procedures or technology into a laboratory
