    Summary

    Thompson Dallas is seeking an exceptional Catering Sales Manager to join its team and support one of downtown Dallas' most distinctive lifestyle event destinations.

    Located in the historic Main Street District, Thompson Dallas blends mid-century modern design, contemporary art, Texas craftsmanship, elevated dining, and 219 guest rooms and suites. The hotel offers more than 14,000 square feet of ballroom space, flexible meeting rooms, rooftop event venues, and panoramic downtown views-creating an ideal setting for weddings, celebrations, corporate meetings, brand activations, and high-profile events.

    The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for achieving assigned catering and banquet revenue goals, with a primary focus on large-group catering, through proactive selling, strategic upselling, detailed event planning, and exceptional client service. This role serves as the primary client contact from contract turnover through post-event follow-up, coordinating menus, event details, billing, logistics, and on-site execution in partnership with Food & Beverage, Culinary, Operations, and Sales teams.

    This position reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Senior Event Sales Manager. The Catering Sales Manager will work closely with the Associate Director of Events to ensure seamless communication, flawless execution, and memorable guest experiences.

    This is an exempt, salaried position. Relocation assistance is available.

    Responsibilities & Duties

    • Achieve assigned catering and banquet revenue goals through proactive selling, strategic upselling, and exceptional event execution.
    • Prospect, qualify, and book large-group catering business, including corporate meetings, conferences, weddings, celebrations, and social events.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients, meeting planners, corporate partners, third-party agencies, and other key accounts.
    • Serve as the primary client contact from contract turnover through post-event follow-up.
    • Plan and coordinate complex events with high guest counts, detailed logistics, multiple stakeholders, and customized guest needs.
    • Coordinate menus, room setups, timelines, audiovisual requirements, décor, billing, and special requests.
    • Prepare and maintain contracts, banquet event orders, proposals, and client correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Conduct hotel tours, site inspections, client meetings, presentations, and pre-convention or event meetings.
    • Recommend menu enhancements, premium experiences, and additional services to maximize revenue and elevate the guest experience.
    • Collaborate with Food & Beverage, Culinary, Operations, Sales, and Events teams to ensure accurate communication and flawless execution.
    • Inspect event spaces, greet clients on-site, and provide hands-on support throughout events.
    • Coordinate with outside vendors, as needed, to support successful event execution.
    • Conduct post-event follow-up, solicit feedback, and identify opportunities to secure repeat and future business.
    • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.
    • Maintain accurate client records and sales activity in accordance with Hyatt standards.
    • Participate in departmental meetings and complete other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience selling, planning, and servicing large-group catering events, including complex programs with high guest counts, detailed logistics, and multiple stakeholders.
    • Minimum of two years of hotel catering, event management, sales, or hospitality experience; lifestyle hotel experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of catering operations, banquet planning, food and beverage, menu development, and pricing.
    • Proven ability to sell, negotiate, influence, build relationships, and drive revenue.
    • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration skills with a guest-first mindset.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems; experience with Envision and Social Tables preferred.
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.
