Category Manager III

Location: Houston, Texas (Onsite)

Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a Category Manager III to support a Wells Supply Chain Management organization. This role involves helping to drive the execution of category strategies, supplier initiatives, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts across the category management team. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, stakeholder management skills, and experience building reporting tools and dashboards to support procurement and supply chain initiatives. This role offers the chance to work cross-functionally with suppliers, category teams, asset SCM teams, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting to track supplier performance, savings, budgets, category initiatives, and execution progress.
  • Coordinate supplier engagement activities, including executive sponsor meetings, strategic supplier reviews, and industry events.
  • Support relationship building between suppliers, category teams, asset SCM teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of Competitive Performance initiatives and other value delivery opportunities.
  • Identify and remove execution barriers to help teams make decisions and deliver results faster.
  • Support special projects, workshops, and cross-functional initiatives that improve category performance.
  • Drive standardization of tools, templates, reporting, and best practices across the Wells Category Teams.
  • Lead relationship health assessments and identify opportunities to improve service levels, communication, and ways of working.
  • Maintain and improve team digital platforms, document repositories, and audit-ready records.
  • Champion the use of AI and digital tools to automate work, streamline processes, and improve team productivity.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices across the organization to promote continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.

Experience: 4+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, category management, or a related discipline.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, and performance tracking metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive work to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A strong commercial and analytical background, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Action-oriented with a focus on speed, execution, and delivering commitments.
  • Safety awareness with a passion for engaging people to put safety first.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or category management activities.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with AI, automation, or digital productivity tools.
  • Interest in continuous improvement and operational excellence methodologies.

Work Schedule

This position follows a 9/80 compressed work week schedule. The schedule is onsite from Monday to Thursday, with remote work on Friday, and every other Friday off.
