Casualty Defense Associate

This is a hands-on litigation role for an associate with 4+ years of civil defense experience who wants meaningful early responsibility. You'll take and defend depositions, draft and argue substantive motions, and handle matters from start to finish under the guidance of senior attorneys, with a clear path toward independently managing your own caseload. Work spans premises and retail liability, products liability, rideshare liability, construction-related litigation, and commercial auto/trucking matters, including complex cases involving significant losses and multiple parties.

Responsibilities

• Manage premises, auto, construction, and general liability matters from start to finish
• Take and defend depositions
• Draft and argue substantive motions
• Lead discovery, case strategy, and client communication as cases are handed off to you
• Collaborate directly with senior attorneys on complex, high-exposure litigation
• Maintain average billing of 1,800+ hours (bonus eligibility begins at 2,200 - not a firm requirement!)

Requirements

• 4+ years of civil litigation/casualty defense experience
• Background in premises, auto, or construction-related liability matters strongly preferred
• Trial experience a plus, but not required - the firm will get associates up to speed on trial work if they haven't handled one yet
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
• A steady work history and interest in building a long-term career with one firm
