Job Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining and organizing the assigned Chemistry laboratories and assisting Chemistry faculty and staff whenever needed.

Job Specific Task List:

  • Prepares chemistry laboratories, equipment, materials, reagents, and solutions for scheduled laboratory activities. - (Essential)
  • Sets up and breaks down laboratory experiments and demonstrations in accordance with established procedures. - (Essential)
  • Ensures appropriate quantities of chemicals, supplies, glassware, and equipment are available for laboratory activities. Orders supplies as needed. - (Essential)
  • Follows and promotes College laboratory safety policies and established Chemical Hygiene Plan procedures. - (Essential)
  • Maintains appropriate labeling, storage, handling, and use of chemicals and laboratory materials. - (Essential)
  • Assists with chemical waste collection, labeling, storage, and disposal in accordance with College procedures and applicable regulations. - (Essential)
  • Maintains required safety documentation, chemical inventories, safety data sheets (SDSs), and laboratory records. - (Essential)
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of chemicals, laboratory supplies, glassware, instrumentation, and other instructional materials. - (Essential)
  • Communicates effectively with faculty and College staff regarding laboratory needs, equipment issues, supply requirements, and safety concerns. - (Essential)
  • Performs other duties as assigned. - (Standard)

Job Type: Part-Time (less than 1,000 hours)

Pennsylvania Work Location Requirement: All work, teaching, meetings, and activities related to this position must be performed within the State of Pennsylvania. This position does not offer a remote work option.
