Description

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

For lecturer applicant pool, part-time, temporary, non-tenurial, contingent upon course requirement. Positions are for graduate level courses tailored to executive level students. Dependent on program, courses are scheduled weekdays, weekends, daytime and evenings. Dependent on program, courses are taught using a variety of delivery systems (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid and on/or other distance delivery formats). Dependent on program, international travel is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned course(s) in the Executive MBA programs.
  • Prepare course syllabi and teach scheduled classes.
  • Meet program deadlines to obtain course materials and submit grades.
  • Maintain office hours and manage student progress and academic questions.
  • As needed, work with multi-media presentation, distance education instruction, and teaching at off-campus sites.
  • Work under supervision of the programs Faculty Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in relevant discipline for lecturers in the Executive MBA programs such as but not limited to Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach graduate level courses.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Masters degree in relevant discipline for lecturers in the Executive MBA programs such as but not limited to Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach graduate level courses.
