    Description

    Responsive recruiter
    Benefits:
    • Flexible schedule
    • Free food & snacks
    • Opportunity for advancement
    • Training & development
At Cold Stone Creamery we sell a 10-minute vacation. Somebody walks in after a hard day and walks out happier than they came in. That is the entire job, and our crew is the only reason it works.
We are locally owned, we have two Reno stores today, and we open our third before the end of this year. That matters to you, and we will come back to why.

    You are
    • Warm. You like people. Not tolerate people. Like them.
    • Quick. A line out the door is the fun part, not the bad part.
    • A team player. You are as glad about someone else’s good shift as your own.
    • Coachable. Nobody walks in knowing how to build a Signature Creation. You are willing to be taught, and then to teach the next person.
    • Reliable. You show up when you said you would. This one is most of the job.

    You will
    • Greet. Every person, within 3 seconds of the door opening. Not a suggestion, it is the job.
    • Create. Learn the Cold Stone Signature Creations and build them right, correct portions, every time. The frozen granite slab is the show and you are the one putting it on.
    • Ring. Run the register accurately. Cash, change, coupons, discounts. No overcharges, no undercharges.
    • Clean. Wipe tables, sweep, stock the service area, break down and clean equipment, take out trash. We pay a professional service for the big stuff like mopping and bathrooms, so what is left is the normal stuff.
    • Keep it safe. Follow food safety procedures and run the checklists. Uniform and hygiene standards every shift.
    • Stock. Count inventory, rotate product, pull from the walk-in.

    We will
    • Pay you, and pay you in tips. Most new crew start between $13 and $15 an hour depending on what you bring. If you are coming to us with real shift lead experience from a similar place, tell us, because we will consider bringing you in as a lead and that goes up to $18. On top of whatever your base is, our Southtowne crew averaged $5.57 an hour in tips across the last 15 pay periods. That is not one good week we picked out, it is every period since December. Cash and credit card, split by hours worked. Cash tips are paid out weekly, in cash. Credit card tips come with your paycheck every two weeks.
    • Work around your life. School, sports, another job, a kid. Tell us what you need and we build the schedule around it. We are not going to spring a shift on you.
    • Train you properly, on the clock. You will not be thrown on the line and wished luck. There is a real training program and every hour of it is paid.
    • Put you in uniform. We provide it. You do not buy your own shirts.
    • Feed you and your people. Crew get Cold Stone coupons you can stack and use on ice cream, cakes, whatever you want. They are excellent, and people notice when you are the one who brought the cake.
    • Give you somewhere to go. This is the part nobody else hiring right now can offer you. Cold Stone is a franchise system. We promote from within to Shift Lead and Store Manager, and we are opening a third Reno store this year, which means those jobs are real and they are close. For people who want the whole thing, there is leadership and ownership training toward running or owning a store of your own. A lot of owners in this business started behind a counter exactly like this one.

    The facts
We would rather tell you now than have you find out in week two.
    • It is cold. You will routinely go in and out of a walk-in freezer at 0°F and a refrigerator at 35 to 38°F.
    • It is physical. You are standing and moving essentially your whole shift. You will lift and carry tubs and cases, and you will bend, reach and scoop with a lot of wrist repetition. Scooping frozen ice cream is a real workout and your forearms will tell you about it.
    • The hours are when people want ice cream. Evenings, weekends, holidays, and all summer. That is the business.
    • Math. Just cash math, in your head, sometimes with a line watching.
    • Transportation. You need a reliable way to get here on time.
    • Training. You will complete and pass our training and food safety certifications.

    Compensation
$13.00 to $18.00 per hour, plus tips.

Here is exactly how that works, because we would rather you know than guess.

Your base is $13 to $15 depending on experience, and that is your wage, guaranteed. Toward $18 is for someone who already has real shift lead experience somewhere similar and comes in leading from day one.

Tips are on top of your base. Our Southtowne crew has averaged $5.57 an hour across the last 15 pay periods. So a new crew member with no experience is looking at roughly $18.50 an hour all in, and someone walking in already knowing the work is higher than that.

What we can promise: your base rate, a real schedule, paid training, and a genuine path to running your own store. You will be promoted based on your skills on the job, not the amount of time you have worked with us.

Whether this is your first job ever, or you have done this for years and want a place that will actually promote you, come make the Ultimate Ice Cream Experience with us.

Everyday is a Great Day For Ice Cream.
    Compensation: $18.50 - $23.50 per hour
