SUMMARY Serves as cashier for the AnMed Auxiliary gift shops. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide exceptional customer service; process customer transactions in a timely manner using computerized POS system; provide gift-wrapping when requested; assist in selection of merchandise if needed; take phone orders and deliver gifts to patients; contact secondary store location when needed to check on availability of items for customers. Accurately complete sales transactions and collection of correct payment; correctly balance cash drawer at the close of business and maintain appropriate records for all transactions, voids, etc.; provide detailed information re: errors that need to be corrected by office personnel. Check with manager/associate when reporting to work regarding special sales, promotions, etc.; accurately provide discounts to customers; assist with pricing new merchandise and other stock related duties. Maintain a neat appearance in the gift shop by refilling candy, sundries, and gift items; straightening merchandise when not busy with customers and before leaving at the close of business. Put away all gift bags, tissue paper, etc. Notify appropriate staff when supplies are low. Maintain communication with Manager that results in continuous quality process improvement (e.g. cost-saving ideas, requests feedback from customers, ideas to boost customer service, increase sales, or reward repeat customers etc.) Assist with annual inventory; work as scheduled on holidays, for special events, and to cover for volunteers when needed. Contribute to the accomplishment of Volunteer Services departmental goals that involve gift shop activities.
