Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to reconcile accounts, prepare reports and complete special projects.

This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Verifies that transactions are correctly posted to the general ledger.

  • Reviews daily cash activity and generate daily bank reports.

  • Prepares reports and correspondence, completes special projects, and maintains records and files.

  • Examines accounting documents and accounts for accuracy and compliance with policies and acceptable accounting standards, makes journal entries, and reconciles and balances accounts.

  • Reconciles admissions, membership, and other revenue generating areas, and ensures accurate reporting of transactions.

  • Coordinates preparation and submission of donation and sponsorship revenue reports supporting Development reporting to the Louisville Zoo Foundation.

  • Oversees revenue reporting for the Friends of the Louisville Zoo.

  • Prepares and reviews financial information related to point of sale system.

  • Research and investigate issues with deposits.

  • Reviews and records bank service charges and credit fees.

  • Operates office and computer equipment.

  • Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, public administration, or related field.

  • Two (2) years of experience in finance, accounting, budget preparation, budget analysis, financial analysis.

EQUIVALENCY:

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience may be substituted.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT):

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

  • Involves routine and frequent exposure to:

  • Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
