Position Description
As a learning college and learning organization, Barton Community College faculty members are committed to students, colleagues, and the College. Faculty's primary objective is to provide quality education and training. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty also participate in student assessment, professional development, support of college policies and procedures, and service to the college and community.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Agriculture and Industry Education, the Case-New Holland Trainer is responsible for supporting the College's partnership with Case-New Holland (CNH). The trainer will deliver technical training courses according to CNH's schedule for dealer service technicians, field personnel and internal company personnel, utilizing CNH's curriculum and equipment. This position would also assist the commercial driver's license program in training students.
Position Responsibilities
10% - Demonstrate Knowledge of Subject Matter
10% - Prepare to Teach Assigned Course(s)
10% - Organize course(s) in an effective manner
o Scope and sequence of course content.
o Course navigation (for those using course shells): Home, Course Syllabus, Grades, Modules.
10% - Facilitate student engagement
o Provide opportunities for students to learn from one another including projects, activities, and discussions.
o Monitor student interactions to ensure a collaborative, safe, and positive learning environment.
o Reach out proactively to students and solicit input.
o Provide meaningful and substantial feedback.
o Provide learning materials that elicit activity, creativity, and engagement.
o Update content as students engage with the course materials.
o Communicate consistently with students in the classroom, during scheduled appointments, in email messages and with comments provided on assignments, tests, etc.
o Respond to student inquiries within 24-48 hours.
o Start and end class on time following seat time requirements.
o Foster a positive culture that respects individual differences and viewpoints.
10% - Assess Student Learning and Use Assessment Data for Continuous Improvement
10% - Engage in College Events, Activities and Operations
10% - Demonstrate Professionalism
15% - Specific Trainer Responsibilities:
10% - • Provide driving instruction to students while they are driving.
5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Expectations
Expected to maintain a Class A license with Airbrake endorsement and a valid DOT physical card.Learn college policies and procedures, adhering to them on behalf of the institution and partnership. Exceptional communications skills, both written and oral formats.This position is contingent on the College's partnership with Case-New Holland. If the partnership is dissolved, the trainer position will be eliminated.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience - Experience in the mechanical/agricultural industry with demonstrated ability to train others required; successful post-secondary teaching experience preferred. Education - Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics or Agriculture Equipment Mechanics and/or Two Years Industry Experience in Agriculture or Heavy Construction Equipment Maintenance or Master Technician in Case- New Holland Equipment.Other Skills - A. The ability to safely operate large farm equipment.
B. Technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Agriculture or Construction Equipment with an emphasis on power trains, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems.
C. Experience with dealership service department activities, especially maintenance and repair of agriculture or construction equipment.
D. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, email & calendar management.
Physical Requirements
The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy objects related to the mechanics/agriculture industry. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
Wages/Other
Salary will be determined in accordance with appropriate qualifications, including highest earned degree in the discipline, related work experience in the field, professional licensure and/or certifications.
