    Overview

    McGuireWoods LLP has an opportunity for a Case Assistant to join our team. The Case Assistant provides support to paralegals and attorneys in the transactional Trademark group. A strong candidate for this position is highly organized, possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrates a high degree of discretion, and is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with managing the firm's trademark portfolio by overseeing assigned client portfolios.
    • Manage daily docketing responsibilities, ensuring all deadlines are accurately tracked, met, and proactively monitored in advance.
    • Prepare electronic forms with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including applications, renewals, responses to office actions, assignments and other ownership updates.
    • Correspond with foreign trademark counsel regarding trademark applications and registrations outside the United States
    • Manage all correspondence electronically, ensuring timely responses and that no deadlines or critical actions are missed.
    • Maintain high attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and strong academic record.
    • Excellent technical skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) is required.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Willingness and desire to work with and learn innovative technology platforms including WebTMS trademark docketing software and Harvey, a legal-specific AI tool that reduces time spent on routine tasks, allowing you to focus on more meaningful, high-impact work.
    • Experience in advertising a plus but not required.
