Job Summary

Under general direction, is responsible for assisting with the simpler aspects of cases. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment but may be required to work outside in all types of weather conditions for extended periods of time and occasional exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, infectious diseases and unfavorable fumes, vapors and odors. Exercises no supervision.

This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Essential Job Functions

  • Makes and takes referrals from different agencies and the general public.
  • Makes presentations to community groups explaining assistance program and may participate in health fairs, meetings and community board activities.
  • Coordinates and conducts special events including conducting outreach presentations to community groups explaining assistance program and may participate in health fairs, meetings, and community board activities.
  • Completes applications for families in the service area to include follow ups with families on incomplete applications and missing documents; completes and submits reports.
  • Answers phones and provides information about programs and performs brief intakes; provides parents with guidance, or assistance in completing School District registration; and assists with attendance monitoring and may conduct home visits for follow up on applications.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • Three (3) years of experience with a social service agency or promoting a health program.
  • This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Drivers License OR valid drivers license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Texas Drivers License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent Customer Service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Data Management Systems.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
