Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:
Join our team as a Carpentry Supervisor and take the lead in coordinating and overseeing carpentry maintenance, repairs, renovations, and construction projects for City buildings and facilities. In this role, you will supervise skilled carpentry staff, manage multiple projects and priorities, and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
Duties include:
Assign, schedule, and supervise employees performing general building maintenance, renovations, new construction, and related carpentry work.
Coordinate and oversee multiple projects to ensure work is completed properly and on schedule.
Inspect buildings to identify maintenance and repair needs and monitor ongoing work for conformance with plans, specifications, and work orders.
Estimate project time, materials, and costs and order necessary supplies and materials.
Maintain accurate records of labor and material costs and prepare project-related reports.
Develop project specifications and inspect completed work to ensure requirements are met.
Participate in interviewing and hiring employees and address routine personnel matters.
Ensure staff and resources are utilized effectively to meet operational and project needs.

Minimum Requirements:
Combine or education and experience equivalent to five (5) years’ experience and training in carpentry maintenance and construction work, utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and associated with positions such as Construction Superintendent, Construction Supervisor, or Construction Foreman. Must have a current and valid driver’s license
Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Successful completion of pre-employment physical. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination.

VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
