    Job Description:

    In this role, you will perform specialized carpentry-related repairs and maintenance at City facilities. In addition, you will receive and process work orders and maintain records of work.

     Examples of Duties:

    • Performs maintenance and repairs on various types of City owned facilities and equipment, specializing in carpentry. 
    • Builds, repairs, and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, roofing, building framework, and trim. 
    • Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions. Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings. 
    • Installs and repairs door hardware.
    • Operates specialized equipment and tools related to the trade discipline. 
    • May lead the work of maintenance crews at the worksite, ensuring that the work is performed safely and efficiently. 
    • Receives work orders, prioritizes and distributes them according to division procedures. 
    • Estimates project materials from blueprints and purchases necessary supplies. 
    • Maintains records of all work performed. 
    • Works extended hours, as necessary, during shutdowns of equipment and/or buildings. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     Basic Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid South Carolina driver's license.
    • Ability to perform work order management through smart phone, tablet and/or computer.

     Other Necessary Requirements:

    • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
    • In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
