Job Title: Cargo Van Driver

Duration: 5+ Months Contract   

Shift Hours (8 Hours/ 10 Hours / 12 Hours): 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

 


Responsibilities:

  • The Central Management Services (CMS) Mail and Messenger division in Chicago operates five critical, daily regional delivery routes servicing multiple state agencies. Minimum baseline staffing requires five full-time couriers to maintain daily route continuity.
  • The division recently experienced a critical staffing deficit due to the simultaneous loss of the regional Lead Worker and a full-time driver, reducing active staff to four. 
  • A temporary employee is urgently required to fill this operational gap, maintain the mandatory five-person baseline, and prevent severe disruption to daily state courier logistics.

 

Required Skills:

  • Commercial Transport Experience (Cargo Vans): The requested candidate must possess a valid, clean driver's license and documented experience operating high-profile commercial cargo vans safely in dense, urban city traffic.
  • This skill is non-negotiable, as the employee will be immediately deployed onto active transit routes.
  • Material Handling & Physical Stamina: The position requires the skill and capability to lift, load, and transport high-volume, heavy parcels utilizing specialized material-handling equipment, including 2- wheel and 4-wheel industrial carts.
  • Navigational & Interpersonal Competency: The candidate must possess strong logistical literacy to interpret complex multi-agency manifests, adapt to dynamic urban routing challenges, and interact professionally with facility security and personnel across multiple state infrastructure hubs.

 

Required:

  • Applicant passes background check.
    Valid driver's license & ability to travel.
    Ability to lift packages weighing up to 50 lbs. & assist with lifting packages up to 50 lbs.
