The Cargo Control Specialist is a general title for Delta cargo professionals who handles all facets of requirements critical to the successful movement of cargo through Delta's expanding network. A Cargo Control Specialist will perform a variety of duties according to the functional work area assignment. The functional areas cover Cargo Control Center (CCC), Day of Departure (DOD), Trucking, and Unit Load Device (ULD) teams. Each section is a separate, but interdependent team with similar skillsets. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of these functional areas but could have an opportunity to train in other functional areas overtime.

In general terms all specialists will be focused on maximizing revenue opportunities for Delta while resolving internal and external customer requirements through effective communications across functional areas.

Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):

  • Support the mission of the (CCC) of proactive failure prevention, and rapid service recovery for premier customer service.
  • Take necessary action to support operational metrics, including calling stations when critical shipments are at risk of failure.
  • Monitor mail movement through stations utilizing various reporting tools and contact stations to ensure timely acceptance and scanning of mail.
  • Rebook offloaded freight utilizing established processes for prioritization and leverage other functional teams as needed to support service recovery efforts.
  • Work real time with Customer Service Center and Proactive Notification team to provide customers real time updates on freight that fails to ride as booked.
  • Conduct CCC shift briefings for updates on the state of cargo operations.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be proficient in English.
  • Knowledge of Webvision and DeltaTerm.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • High proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid analytical, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Self-starter and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 30 WPM.
  • Be able to work a fixed and/or rotating schedule including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Knowledge of Loadtrac and Luggage Logistics.
  • A college level education or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience in working in cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Delta Cargo operations/trucking experience.
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in current position.
