Caregiver/Med Tech

Pay: $21.30 per hour

What You'll Do
As our Caregiver/Med Tech, you will:
- Resident Care: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, nutrition, hydration, and medication assistance, in accordance with each resident's service plan.
- Resident Transfers: Assist with resident transfers as needed while following appropriate safety procedures.
- Resident Monitoring: Observe residents for changes in condition or unusual occurrences and promptly report concerns to the Licensed Nurse, Director of Nursing, or Assistant Director of Nursing.
- Medication Assistance: Administer medications in accordance with established medication assistance protocols and accurately document administration in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
- Medication Records: Assist with medication refills, fax physician orders, maintain accurate medication records, and assist with auditing MARs and flow sheets.
- Medication Safety: Ensure medications are properly stored and handled in accordance with established safety and infection control procedures.
- Resident Transportation: Arrange transportation for residents when required for medical appointments or community outings.
- Documentation & Administrative Support: Assist with filing, photocopying, faxing, and maintaining resident medical documentation.
- Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, family members, staff, and external vendors.
- Resident Relations: Treat residents, families, and staff with courtesy, respect, and professionalism while promoting a positive and supportive community environment.
- Safety & Infection Control: Follow infection control guidelines, including appropriate handling of blood and body fluids, and follow established safety procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Follow RHF policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations related to resident care, medication assistance, privacy, dignity, and individualized care.
- Environmental Safety: Remain alert to environmental risks, including odors, noise, resident behaviors, and other potential hazards, and take appropriate action to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Team Support: Work independently and as part of a team while remaining flexible and maintaining a calm, professional demeanor during interruptions, stressful situations, and changing priorities.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks or duties as assigned by the Licensed Nurse, Director of Nursing, or Administrator.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of WAC 388-78A-112 training is required.
- Completion of Fundamentals of Caregiving or Modified Fundamentals of Care, with specialties in Dementia and Mental Health.
- Developmental Disabilities Specialty training is preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification is required.
- Completion of Med Tech Training and certification is required.
- Must complete a minimum of 12 hours of additional education annually.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and supervisors and complete required resident care documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining professionalism in stressful or changing situations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established policies and procedures.
- Must successfully complete required pre-employment screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly pull, push, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements during medication administration.
- Ability to occasionally lift and assist with moving residents as needed.
- May be exposed to blood, body fluids, odors, and challenging resident behaviors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced care environment while maintaining resident safety and comfort.
