Closing Date: UNTIL FILLED Summary: Under the general supervision of the site principal, the Career Specialist will assist teachers in providing classroom Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) instruction to students in grades TK-6. The goal of an effective VAPA Career Specialist is to develop in each student an interest in and ability to express himself/herself creatively in the arts, and utilize skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the student's interests and abilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop, prepare present, and coordinate classroom VAPA lessons.
Provide assistance in developing a school-wide VAPA instruction schedule.
Coordinate school-wide VAPA projects and programs.
Plan and present school VAPA displays and exhibits.
Instruct pupils in proper care and use of VAPA materials.
Organize storage areas and control the use of materials to prevent loss or abuse.
Provide input to staff regarding pupil progress in the area of VAPA.
Help maintain a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
Performs other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.

Establish a desirable VAPA model for students
Maintain a high standard of professional conduct
Maintain confidentiality of information about staff or students
Meet district standards for physical and mental health
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED.
Bachelor's Degree in Art or related field
A background working with elementary students is preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:
Requires a valid driver's license.

Salary and Terms of Service: Salary range (66) $38.70 - $47.61 per hour, eight (8) steps, seven (7) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F). Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only, prorated according to number of hours worked.
