The Career Foundations Specialist role is crucial in supporting the University of Florida’s commitment to career development and post-graduation outcomes for UF students. The Career Foundations Specialist is specifically responsible for administrative support for daily operations of the career center, delivering direct career development services to University of Florida students, and coordinating essential functions to support student career learning. The incumbent oversees drop-in career coaching services, facilitates outreach, tabling, and educational workshops, supports communication to students, and oversees the daily functions of the Gator Career Closet.

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience.

Job Description:
  • Oversees day-to-day functions and operations of foundational career center services including customer service/stakeholder experiences, scheduling, communication and staffing for drop-in services/programs, and the Gator Career Closet. Supports operating hours and student employees’ scheduling and task management for foundational services. Coordinates Gator Career Closet functions including: inventory management, gathering donations of professional clothing items, and outreach to community partners supporting donations. Collaborates with C3 staff to build staffing schedules for campus events needing C3 participation including tabling. Creates and maintains files, calendar records, documents, and workflows before and after outreach engagements. Works with Business Administrative Services team to support additional customer service efforts including front desk maintenance and staffing as needed.

 

  • Provides foundational career planning services to all University of Florida students. Facilitates individual career planning appointments, drop-in services to University of Florida undergraduate and graduate students in topics such as interviewing skills, job search strategies, and general career decision making strategies. Creates educational resources for students, alumni, faculty, staff and employers such as presentations guides, handouts, and web content using PowerPoint and Canva. Delivers outreach presentations to classes, campus units, and student organizations. Works with outreach coordinator to staff presentations for student-led organizations after traditional work hours.

 

  • Provides administrative support for coordination and communication of Career Foundations and Academic Integration team events, programs, and partner meetings.  Coordinates logistics and communications in various mediums to stakeholders including scheduling meetings and other team activities. Prepares meeting agendas, materials, arrangements, and events held within the team and other engagement activities for stakeholders.  Conducts benchmarking research on trends in career learning and prepares reports for the team. Responsible for managing shared email inboxes for communication with campus stakeholders including holds processes, experiential learning reporting, and career education promptly.
Expected Salary:

$47,000.00

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, marketing, student personnel, or human resources (HR)

EXPERIENCE:
1 year of experience (minimum) in career development, student engagement, education, career coaching, HR, stakeholder engagement, and/or marketing.

- Facilitative skills - Interpersonal skills
-Strong presentations skills, listening skills, helping skills, relationship management, and program development
-Experience with presenting and facilitating large groups.
-Skilled in computer applications
-Strong organization skills

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of career development, employment trends, student development, career services, career coaching, and outreach strategies

ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
