    Career Peer Advisors (CPAs) are undergraduate students supporting Career Center staff in serving ISU students through career-related content and activities. They assist students during Walk In hours, perform student outreach through our Ambassador program, provide interactive presentations to their peers, and provide overall support of the Career Center. The overall goal of CPAs is to assist their peers so they will be better prepared professionally.

    Specific Responsibilities Work Schedule

    The position is flexible between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with the greatest needs for this position are Monday through Friday from 12 pm to 3 pm.

    • Current Indiana State University student
    • Ability to commit to at least 3 or more semesters (Professionalism/Work Ethic).
    • Available to work a minimum of 6 hours per week for 2-hour consecutive time blocks each shift (Professionalism/Work Ethic).

    NCAA Guidelines

    All employees and staff of ISU are bound by all NCAA, Missouri Valley Conference and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to intercollegiate athletics and must conduct themselves in accordance therewith.     Job Duties

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct 15 minute walk-in advising sessions and résumé and cover letter critiques (Oral/Written Communication).
    • Participate in Career Center Ambassador Program performing outreach/tabling/office hours in designated buildings along with Career Center resource tables at campus-wide events (Oral/Written Communication, Teamwork/Collaboration, Leadership).
    • Facilitate video or in person mock interviews (for freshman/sophomores) (Oral/Written Communication, Digital Technology).
    • Demonstrate the online resources available and use of Career Center resource guides, basic database management (Digital Technology).
    • Assist with ISU Career /job fairs, multiple and various office events (Oral/Written Communication, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Teamwork/Collaboration).
    • Present career workshops to student organizations, classes, or groups on campus (Oral/Written Communication, Digital Technology, Teamwork Collaboration).
    • Assist students with use of the Career Center Clothing Closet (Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Oral/Written Communication).
    • Participate in professional growth activities including, but not limited to, training modules, workshops, webinars, and group discussion/supervision (Oral/Written Communication, Leadership, Teamwork/Collaboration, Career Management).
    • Perform other duties and projects assigned as needed including One Drive data entry projects including writing, researching, and editing. Other special projects can include approving job/internship positions in Handshake, working on Student Employment paperwork, grading classroom assignments, and all other duties assigned.     • Collaborate with all areas of the office including Career Coaching, Employer Relations, Student Employment, Operations, and all other areas as assigned by Supervisor. (Oral/Written Communication, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Teamwork/Collaboration).

    Professional Expectations

    • Some evening/extended hours will be required during events and peak seasons, when necessary (Professionalism/Work Ethic).

    • Maintain the confidentially of all information with students, faculty, and staff (Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Professionalism/Work Ethic).
    • Respond to office/staff e-mails within 1-2 business days (unless otherwise excused) (Oral/Written Communication, Digital Technology).
    • Meet with Supervisor periodically throughout semester and yearly for annual student evaluation (Oral/Written Communication, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Career Management).
    • Must be able to attend Career Peer Advisor team meetings/training during the academic year (Oral/Written Communication, Professionalism/Work Ethic).
    • Attend yearly summer orientation and training provided for the Career Peer position (Oral/Written Communication, Teamwork/Collaboration, Digital Technology, Professionalism/Work Ethic, Career Management).
