ADOPTED: 12 -18-2012 AMENDED: 10- 5-16, 10- 23-17, 08- 01-18 SOCORRO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Department of Human Resources JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Career and Technical Education Facilitator Salary Block : 104 Reports To : Director for Career and Technical Education Terms of Employment : 226 Days Exemption Status : Exempt Primary Purpose : Assists the immedi ate supervisor/director in the planning, development, and training of the district's adopted instructional curriculum. Assists individual teachers and school administrators with the implementation of the career and technical curriculum and facilitates program development/improvement. Qualifications : Education/Certification • Valid Texas teaching certificate • Master's Degree • One of the following certificates: Valid Texas Supervisor, Mid -Management, Administrator's, Vocational Supervisor, Vocat ional Administrator, or Principal's Certificate • Valid Driver's License Special Knowledge/Skills • Knowledge of instructional administration, curriculum writing and implementation • Excellent organizational skills, communication, presentation, and interpersona l skills • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education program areas Experience • Three (3) years teaching experience within a Career and Technical Education Program Major Responsibilities and Duties 1. Plans and organizes the delivery of the district's regular and compensatory instructional programs to ensure implementation of the adopted curriculum. 2. Adheres to local, state, federal rules, regulations and policies. 3. Assists schools to increase student achievement and improve students' test scores by providing te st preparation strategies and promoting teacher use of instructional strategies for special populations. 4. Plans, implements, and evaluates instructional programs with teachers and principals. 5. Assesses, develops, and implements the use of technology. 6. Partici pates in the sel ection of all state and locally -adopted textbooks and materials as assigned. Purchases all textbooks required for Dual -Credit courses and adheres to the agreements between SISD and EPCC. 7. Works with campus administration to assist with the supervision of assigned program . 8. Plans and provides technical assistance to support the adopted curriculum. Develops standards and assists in implementing industry -based curriculum which leads to a student certification. 9. Works with teachers to improve exist ing programs and to develop new programs. 10. Monitors the use, care, and replacement of capital equipment and/or facilities, as appropriate. 11. Keeps information about national, state, and district programs and trends. Works with local business, industry, military and post -secondary institutions to ensure seamless transition from secondary to post -secondary institutions. 14. Works with assigned program areas to develop and submit bud get requests to support instructional programs. 15. Participates in the bidding and purchasing process. 16. Demonstrates responsible fiscal control over assigned budgets. Assists in cutting waste from department spending. 17. Assists campus administrators in the plann ing and review of instructional schedules for regular and compensatory education. 18. Coordinates teacher and student travel, as needed. 19. Assists in locating qualified teaching personnel. 20. Provides technical assistance to all personnel, as required, and encourag es professional growth. 21. Organizes and facilitates student competitive events, as assigned. 22. Promotes and oversees student and teacher trips and student -related school and community events, as needed. 23. Maintains high visibility in the educational community. 24. Participates in district and community activities. 25. Develops articulation and dual -credit plans with post -secondary institutions. 26. Interacts and provides information to the community regarding programs. 27. Plans and chairs committees and/or meetings assigned by the immediate supervisor. 28. Promotes and communicates high expectations of teacher and student performance. 29. Assists in providing campus administration with professional development on Career and Technical Education. 30. Ensures that curriculum is disseminated in accordance with the required TEKS, adopted curriculum, articulation/dual- credit agreements. 31. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the SISD safety program. 32. Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district poli cies. 33. Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption of district operations. 34. Demonstrates a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct. 35. Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate s upervisor. 36. Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district.
