What You Will Do:
- Provide LPHA-level clinical services within Mobile Crisis Intervention, supporting rapid, person-centered responses to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises in community and program settings.
- Conduct comprehensive crisis assessments that evaluate mental status, suicide and violence risk, substance use, medical and behavioral health needs, trauma, protective factors, and available supports.
- Determine appropriate levels of care and dispositions, emphasizing stabilization in the least restrictive setting and diversion from unnecessary emergency department or inpatient use when clinically appropriate.
- Develop collaborative safety and stabilization plans and provide brief, trauma-informed crisis intervention, de-escalation, psychoeducation, and support to individuals and families.
- Provide clinical consultation, modeling, and oversight to MCI clinicians and counselors, reinforcing sound crisis practice and consistent implementation of clinical recommendations without formal personnel supervisory responsibility.
- Coordinate care with families, natural supports, CBHC services, outpatient providers, emergency departments, first responders, schools, state agencies, and other community partners.
- Support crisis triage and prioritization, communicate changing risks or urgent needs, and help mobilize appropriate staff and resources in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Complete referrals, follow-up coordination, and warm handoffs that connect individuals with ongoing behavioral health, substance-use, medical, and community services.
- Maintain clear, accurate, timely clinical documentation and electronic health records in accordance with MCI, payer, contractual, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and agency requirements.
- Participate in case consultation, shift communication, team meetings, quality-improvement activities, and other responsibilities assigned by program leadership.
Who You Are:
- Master's degree in a mental health-related field required.
- Current Massachusetts clinical licensure that meets LPHA requirements, such as LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC, required.
- At least two years of experience in the human-services field required; crisis, emergency, mobile response, or other high-acuity behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of crisis assessment and intervention, suicide and violence risk evaluation, mental status examination, safety planning, de-escalation, level-of-care decisions, and hospital-diversion practices.
- Knowledge of the relationship between mental health and medical conditions, substance use, care management, recovery principles, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed treatment.
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to make timely, well-supported decisions while managing urgent needs, changing priorities, and frequent interruptions.
- Strong collaboration, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, providers, emergency partners, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organization, documentation, computer, and electronic health record skills, including the ability to meet crisis-service and payer timelines.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for mobile and community-based response required.
- Ability to work an assigned schedule within a 24-hour crisis program, respond in varied community settings, and meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
