Description

Summary:

Hours: 9am-9pm, 3 days/week

No weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patient’s blood pressures and inform physician of any changes from baseline.
  • Monitor the position of catheter in the heart by interpreting intracardiac pressures.
  • Record pressures in all chambers requested by physician.
  • Maintain a complete record of all events occurring during a procedure using the Cardiac Cath Lab computer.
  • Calibrate and operate equipment during procedures, including A-Vox, Cardiac Output, and ACT.
  • Inform physician and monitoring CVT of results.
  • Supply physician with equipment during procedures, such as catheters, wires, balloons, and stents.
  • Analyze and process data through the computer, printing out all appropriate information.
  • Set up and calibrate the intra-aortic balloon pump, setting the initial timing and fine-tuning with the physician.
  • Monitor the balloon pump during procedure and stay with the patient until they are in the CCU, OR, or CSICU.
  • Assist in emergency situations by performing resuscitation measures such as operating a defibrillator, performing artificial resuscitation, and using an external pacemaker.
  • Replenish supplies in the lab as necessary and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Notify supervisor of any serious malfunctions and equipment shortages.
  • Learn and apply new technology and procedures as they are introduced to the Cardiac Cath Lab, such as Flow wire, ultrasound, and rotablator.
  • Operate power injector for large volume dye contrast injections.
  • Assist in cardiac catheterizations by setting up equipment and instruments in a sterile field.
  • Set up rooms for each patient by entering name, MR number, and appropriate information into the DX.
  • Assist the nursing staff by transporting patients from one area to the next.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

  • RCIS certification preferred.
