Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant
High-Autonomy Role | DallasFort Worth Metro

Take the next step in your cardiothoracic surgery career with a high-performing surgical team in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Physician Assistant with EVH expertise to join a dynamic adult cardiac program working alongside 4 experienced surgeons and 3 PAs at a flagship hospital.

This role offers true full-spectrum cardiac care pre-op, first assist, ICU management, and outpatient follow-up with strong autonomy and direct collaboration with a lead surgeon.

Position Highlights

First assist in the OR with Endovascular Vein Harvesting (EVH)
Manage pre-operative, post-operative, ICU, and step-down care
Mix of inpatient rounding and outpatient clinic follow-up
Perform bedside procedures (chest tube removal, line removal, wound care)
Focused support of one lead surgeon
Shared call schedule: 1:3 weekday call / 1:4 weekend call
Active involvement in discharge planning, patient education, and quality initiatives
Collaborative multidisciplinary cardiac team environment

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Active NCCPA certification
Minimum 1 years of EVH experience (required)
23 years of cardiothoracic surgery, critical care, or surgical experience
BLS, ACLS, and active DEA
Strong clinical judgment managing complex surgical patients
Comfortable practicing with autonomy in a high-acuity setting
