Position Summary We are seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon to lead and build our Cardiothoracic Surgery program in Sioux City. This is a high-impact opportunity to build a comprehensive Cardiovascular service line and keep care close to home. An open-heart surgery program in Sioux City builds upon UnityPoint Healths commitment to cardiovascular care across our entire state. This program will utilize best practices and expertise from our open-heart programs in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Waterloo, and Quad Cities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a CTS program with strong system support.
• Collaborate with established Interventional Electrophysiology, General Cardiology, and Vascular teams.
• Build a sustainable 24-hour call model (shared coverage, PRN/locum support as needed).
• Develop a strong referral base from employed physicians and community providers.
• Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.
• Provide the best outcome for every patient every time.

Qualifications

• MD or DO.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa.
• Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physicians field of practice.
• Experience building or expanding a program preferred.
• Cardiothoracic surgical expertise.
• Collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset.
• Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt).
• J-1 waiver sponsorship available.
