Job Summary:

Leading Heart Program in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is seeking a skilled CT-APP with EVH experience to join in assisting their 3 employed cardiothoracic surgeons and 3 APPs at Grand Strand Medical Center.

 Join a Growing Cardiothoracic Surgery Program:

We are seeking an experienced and highly moticated Cardiothoracic APP (Physician Assistant or Acute Care NP) to join our expanding cardiothoracic surgery program. The position offers a balanced blend of operative first assisting, ICU management, and perioperative patient care within a high-volume cardiac and thoracic program.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a collaborative environoment alongside cardiothoracic surgerons and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes across a continuum of care.

Qualified Candidates/Details:
  • Graduated from an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program 
  • Have a South Carolina license or the ability to get a South Carolina license prior to starting
  • 2 or more years’ experience  in first assist for adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures (CABG, valves, aortic surgery) and thoracic procedures with Robotics and TEVAR experience a plus.
  • Endoscopic saphenous vein harvest (EVH) with Saphena XL system; Endoscopic radial artery harvest a plus, though willing to train
  • Participate in urgent and emergent operative cases
 
Intensive Care Unit & Inpatient Management
  • Daily management of postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
  • Hemodynamic assessment and management
  • Coordination of multidisciplinary teams
  • Discharge planning and transition of care
  • Participation in night and weekend OR call with expected coverage 1:3. No overnight shifts required

Procedural Responsibilities
Preferred candidates will have experience with:
  • Chest tube placement and management
  • Central venous catheter placement
  • Arterial line placement
  • Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal

Training Opportunities
Candidates with strong cardiothoracic surgery experience who are interested in expanding their skill set will receive training in:
  • Endoscopic radial artery harvest
  • Advanced perioperative cardiothoracic procedures
