Facilitates and assists the providers and healthcare team in providing excellent service and quality patient care. Focuses on providing professional nursing support and services for patients undergoing cardiac stress testing and coordinates patient care activities and other cardiology procedures. Evaluates patients scheduled for cardiac stress testing and facilitates/coordinates applicable communications with patients, team, and providers.
Position Reports To: Practice Manager
Essential Functions:The primary responsibility of the Cardiac Stress Test RN is to supervise the administration of various cardiac stress tests, including Exercise ECG Testing, Stress Echocardiography, and Stress Radionuclide Cardiac Imaging.
Possess knowledge/competency of appropriate indications/contraindications for exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, plus review stress test orders, to assess for appropriate use criteria by non-cardiology providers.
After successful completion of the competency checklist, the Cardiac Stress Test RN may administer cardiac stress test isotopes in accordance with institutional policies, radiation safety principles, and documentation requirements.
This role will involve floating between Confluence Health Moses Lake Clinic and Central Washington Central Campus Cardiology, necessitating adaptability and collaboration across different healthcare settings.
Under general supervision, provides high quality support to physicians in meeting the medical needs of the patient. Performs Exercise and/or Pharmacological Nuclear Stress tests and stress studies under the Direct Supervision of the Supervising Cardiologist.
Demonstrates competence in technical aspects of non-invasive cardiac testing including operation of treadmill, ECG lead placement, ECG monitoring and rhythm identification, and treatment.
Possesses a comprehensive understanding of cardiac disease states, cardiovascular and exercise physiology, and the hemodynamic responses to exercise. This knowledge is crucial for recognizing and responding to complications that may arise during testing.
Prepares charts for procedures, conducting pre-procedure teaching, and ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
Assesses the patient's condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment; implements appropriate nursing actions and collaborates with other disciplines to meet the patient's physical, family, social, and intellectual needs.
Facilitates and supervises patient information tracking in all aspects of the patient's cardiac care before, during, and after each visit.
Triages and coordinates care for unplanned "urgent/emergent" patient care situations.
Provides phone consultation services within scope of license with appropriate follow-up for defined patient population(s) served.
Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR)/ACLS certification.
Demonstrate standards of behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
