Cardiac Echo Technologist - York Hospital - Part-Time - Day

Essential Functions:

• Performs routine & advanced cardiac ultrasound techniques and examinations such as; adult echocardiograms, preps and acquires stress echocardiograms, pediatric echocardiograms and peds clinic, 3D echo, research studies, assists the physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms, operative transesophageal echocardiograms, mitral valve clips and transcatheter aortic valve replacements.
• Supervises, assists, and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
• Obtains intravenous access and administers intravenous contrast agents such as Definity and Optison. Performs Saline Bubble Studies.
• Prepares preliminary echocardiogram reports and measurements for physicians.
• Performs portable tests in patient rooms when necessary.
• Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably.
• Explains procedures to patients.
• Clerical duties such as, scheduling patients, ensuring accurate billing codes, answering phones.
• Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts Biomed Department for major malfunctions.
• Knowledge and routine use of a digital image storage system (PACS) and associated workflow software.
• Assists Echo Team Leader in the planning and presentation of peer to peer continuing education in-services on current & future Echocardiology exam protocols, techniques and image data analysis in support of current and future advanced cardiac procedures.
