Job Overview:AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a skilled
Cardiac Catheterization Technician atCardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). The technician will assist physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, operate advanced imaging and monitoring equipment, and ensure accurate documentation and patient safety throughout all procedures.
This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively in a
high-acuity, fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.
Specific Duties:- Assist physicians with cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures (angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker/defibrillator insertion, electrophysiology studies)
- Prepare and position patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and monitoring throughout proceduresÂ
- Operate and maintain cardiac catheterization lab equipment and imaging systemsÂ
- Monitor patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms; report abnormalities promptlyÂ
- Record and document patient history, procedural data, and results accurately in electronic systemsÂ
- Perform equipment quality control, maintenance, and troubleshootingÂ
- Maintain sterile technique and comply with infection control and safety protocolsÂ
- Identify anatomical and physiological abnormalities and assist in clinical decision-makingÂ
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of instruments and equipmentÂ
- Maintain supply inventory and coordinate replenishmentÂ
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teamsÂ
- Provide patient education and reassurance before, during, and after proceduresÂ
- Prioritize workload and respond effectively in emergency/high-pressure situations
Qualifications:
Degree/Education: Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technologist program accredited by CAAHEP
Preferred Qualifications:- Â Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)Â
- Â Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)Â
- Â Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification
Certifications:- Â Current Basic Life Support (BLS)Â
- Â Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Â
Experience:Minimum 18 months of clinical experience within the last 2 years as a Cardiac Catheterization TechnicianLicensure: No state license required;
must meet federal/DHA requirementsSkills and Abilities:- Â Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and disease processesÂ
- Â Familiarity with cardiac arrhythmias and interventional proceduresÂ
- Â Ability to operate complex diagnostic and interventional equipmentÂ
- Â Knowledge of sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety standards
Schedule:- Â 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
- Â May include weekends and holidays
- Â On-call and extended hours may be required
Work Environment:- Â Hospital-based Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Â Level I Trauma Center setting
- Â High-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment
Physical Requirements:- Â Must meet occupational health requirements

- Â Must complete required physical exam if applicable
Immunization Requirements:- Â Annual influenza vaccination
- Â Compliance with CDC and DHA immunization and TB screening guidelines
Security Requirements:- Â Must obtain and maintain Tier 1 (NACI) background investigation
- Â Must be eligible to work in a federal healthcare environment
