Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall operation of the canteen warehouse to include shipping, receiving, storing, inventory control and stock rotation.
  • Responsible for required personnel actions.
  • Act as purchasing agent in the procurement of all canteen merchandise and equipment to include keeping abreast of market conditions, ensuring accurate/timely delivery and affecting cost savings where possible.
  • Ensure security procedures are in place to prevent theft/damage of merchandise/equipment and injuries to employees/inmates.
  • Dually supervise institutional canteen managers.
  • Analyze and forecast requirements for canteen items of convenience.
  • Manage statewide vending and canteen operations including oversight of SC Commission of the Blind and private vendors.
  • Develop five-year strategic plans, supervise audits and management reviews and respond to inmate, staff and public inquiries.
  • Develop and oversee SCDC canteen operation policies, provide technical assistance to wardens and supervise audits and annual management reviews.
  • Assist assistant director.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services. A bachelors degree may be substituted for required work experience.

SCDC minimum requirements:

A bachelors degree and relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services.
