    BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description JOB TITLE: Campus Safety & Student Support Specialist CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt REPORTS TO: Principal/Designee PAY GRADE: DAYS: 187 LOCATION: WestBrook DATE REVISED: August 2026 PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide a consistent, visible adult presence throughout the campus to strengthen student safety, supervision, and a positive school culture. The specialist will monitor student transitions and common areas, build strong relationships with students, proactively redirect behavior, and use trained de-escalation strategies to prevent and respond to student conflict and behavioral concerns. This position is designed as a student supervision and support role and does not serve as a classroom instructional aide. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required. Must successfully complete district-required Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent de- escalation training within the established onboarding timeline and maintain required certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to establish positive, respectful relationships with adolescents while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations. Strong situational awareness and ability to actively supervise hallways, stairwells, entrances, cafeterias, restrooms, exterior transition areas, and other common spaces. Ability to calmly redirect behavior, defuse conflict, and use de-escalation strategies before situations escalate. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, families, administrators, and campus safety personnel. Monitor assigned campus zones and common areas; circulate consistently rather than remaining stationary unless directed for a specific post.

    Build rapport with students and use relationships to reinforce attendance, punctuality, appropriate conduct, and positive decision-making. Proactively identify emerging conflicts, unsafe behavior, or students in distress and intervene early using approved redirection and de-escalation practices. Support administrators and designated campus personnel in responding to student behavioral incidents, including helping maintain safe space and student movement as directed. Assist with safe student movement to and from assigned locations, including administrative offices, counseling spaces, classrooms, and designated support areas. Reinforce schoolwide expectations, safety procedures, identification requirements, and student code-of-conduct expectations consistently and respectfully. Immediately report safety hazards, suspected threats, fights, prohibited items, unauthorized visitors, or other significant concerns to the appropriate administrator or campus safety personnel. Maintain professional confidentiality and document or communicate incidents and patterns as requested by campus administration. Participate in CPI/de-escalation training, campus safety training, emergency drills, and other required professional learning. Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, student support staff, police/safety personnel, and other campus employees. Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner and perform other related duties as assigned Equipment Used District-issued radio or communication device; personal computer and standard office peripherals as assigned WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands Maintain emotional control under stress; respond calmly and appropriately to conflict, student dysregulation, and rapidly changing situations. Work with frequent interruptions and exercise sound judgment while managing multiple priorities Physical/Environmental Demands Prolonged standing and frequent walking throughout a large campus; frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and movement between indoor and outdoor areas. May be exposed to loud noise, inclement weather during supervision duties, and childhood communicable diseases.
