Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Campus Recreation and Wellness Student Assistant on the Cumming Campus. This student leader will serve as an independent, student-driven ambassador for Campus Recreation and Wellness, that leads the promotion of departmental programs, services, and upcoming events to increase student awareness and participation. Core responsibilities include assisting with campus programming, coordinating outreach efforts, distributing promotional materials, managing digital and in-person communication channels, and supporting well-being initiatives tailored to the needs of the Cumming student population. The assistant helps reinforce a positive, inclusive environment by modeling healthy behaviors, directing students to wellness resources, and serving as a knowledgeable point of contact for recreation and well-being opportunities. Selected candidates will receive and maintain training in: CRW specific training, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and opportunities to complete a Mental Health First Aid Certification. This is a paid position. This position is subject to GPA and conduct checks. Campus Recreation and Wellness is committed to supporting the academic and personal success of students and will refer students to support resources as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a minimum of 6 scheduled hours per week
  • Promote and represent CRW programs, services, and facilities to students
  • Assist with planning, marketing, and implementation of a variety of programs, including fitness, recreation, sport clubs, well-being education, and social connection events
  • Support outreach efforts (tabling, social media content, campus events, etc.) to increase student awareness and participation
  • Maintain organized calendar of upcoming programs and outreach activities
  • Wear CRW attire and a name tag while on duty or representing the department at events
  • Make sure that all programs and outreach activities are properly planned and approved by your supervisor
  • Recruit volunteer CRW advocates into the program
  • Seek out opportunities to work collaboratively with student organizations and other departments to create, publicize, and deliver CRW programs and events
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on CRW offerings and connect students to appropriate services
  • Attend weekly meetings and required trainings
  • Provide general support for CRW operations as needed (event setup, check-in, equipment rental check-out, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned and as determined as the position evolves

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • Must be in good academic standing (2.5 GPA).
  • Must have or obtain CPR certification within 1 month of hire.

  • Must be able to work as a team member and independently (self-starter)
  • Must be able to organize and manage a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Must possess positive work attitude and be dependable and responsible
