    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Oversees all aspects of camp operations, ensuring a safe, fun, and enriching experience for campers while managing staff, programs, and resources.
    • Evaluate camp programs, activities, and curricula designed by the Activities Specialist to ensure engaging and age-appropriate experiences for campers.
    • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise camp staff, including counselors, activity specialists, and volunteers, fostering a positive and motivated team environment.
    • Ensure camper safety, enforce health and safety protocols, and maintain a secure environment for all participants.
    • Manage daily camp operations, including staff scheduling, accommodations, meals, and logistics, while monitoring budgets and ordering supplies.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and campers, providing updates, addressing concerns, and promoting the camp's mission and culture.
    • Use data and feedback to refine existing programs and develop new initiatives that enhance camper experiences and organizational.
    • Ensure campers are behaving appropriately in accordance with the RISES values (Reverence, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship)
    • Understand and adhere to all applicable safety policies and procedures, including safety education, accident prevention, and the promotion of a safe work environment.
    • Impart the spirit of St. Francis through respect for all persons and things, and by a search for truth in daily interactions and situations
    • As a visible agent of Neumann University, uphold the highest standards of conduct, attitude, appearance, and confidentiality

    Work Schedule:

    • 2-3 hours per week (remote or in-person) between the time of hire and the end of 2026.
    • Increasing to a couple days per week (mix of remote and in-person) starting in 2027 for more formal planning.
    • Full-time, in-person May 31-August 27. May 31 is an ideal start date for full-time but is negotiable. State date can be no later than June 7.

    Qualities:

    • Enjoy working with children, prior experience is recommended
    • Enjoy participating in outdoor activities such as hiking and games
    • Be able to maintain an energetic disposition through a full day of camp
    • Be organized, calm, dependable, self-sufficient, a team player, and a problem solver

    Requirements:

    • Be 21 years of age or older

    • Have a Bachelor's degree in education, youth development, recreation, nonprofit management, or a related field.

    • 5+ years of experience in youth program management and staff supervision

    • Be able to pass the following background checks:

    • PA Child Abuse History

    • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History

    • FBI Criminal History

    • Be willing to be First Aid and CPR Certified during pre-camp

    • Be able to perform a variety of tasks outside in various weather conditions

    • Be able to lift and carry 35lbs

    • Excellent communications skills in both verbal and written formats.

    • Knowledge of and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan character of the University.

    • A willingness to innovate, problem-solve, and create solutions.

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in education, youth development, recreation, nonprofit management, or a related field.

    • Experience: 5+ years in youth program management and supervising staff.

    • Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire staff and foster a positive camp culture; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    • Strong technical and organizational skills

    • Proven experience developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships.

    • Candidates must possess an understanding of, appreciation for, and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University.

    Camp Schedule:

    • Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
    • Mandatory Pre-Camp Training: June 14 - June 17
    • Camp Dates: June 21 - August 20 (no camp on July 2 or July 5)
