    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    High School Diploma or Equivalent

    One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    CERTIFICATION:

    Sanitation Certification

    High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.

    PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:

    Assists in the management and supervision of a high school cafeteria and snack bar.

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Complies with all regulations governing the Child Nutrition Program.

    2. Works cooperatively with cafeteria personnel.

    3. Assists manager with all required food production records

    4. Assists manager in pre-payments and cash register operations.

    5. Assists manager in daily money counting and deposit transactions.

    6. Ensures that food is prepared, served, and stored in accordance with sanitation standards.

    7. Communicates with School Nutrition Services on acceptability of food items.

    8. Assists manager in maintenance of food inventory levels.

    9. Supervises operations of cafeteria in manager's absence.

    10. Maintains confidentiality of information.

    11. Reports to work on time every day.

    12. Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination to include alcohol and drug testing
    • Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food service operation
    • Knowledge of basic mathematics and measuring conversions
    • Knowledge of health and safety requirements applicable to a large food service operation
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
    • Ability to write and e-mail simple correspondence in the English language
    • Ability to distinguish between food ingredients with ability to read and understand label information
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, coworkers, and other employees of the District in the English language
    • Valid Texas Driver's License and driving record that meets the requirements of the District

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The individual must pass a pre-employment physical examination to include alcohol and drug testing.
