Cafeteria
and
Recess
Aide BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Cafeteria and Recess Aide is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly atmosphere
by
helping
and
supervising
students
during
lunch
and
recess.
The
position
requires
an
individual
who
is
clean
in
work
habits,
follows
safety
rules,
cooperates
with
school
staff,
and
demonstrates
a
happy,
helpful,
attitude
towards
students.
. QUALIFICATIONS : 1.
High
School
Diploma
or
equivalent
combination
of
education,
training,
and/or
experience.
2.
Minimum
of
one
year
of
experience
working
with
children
and/or
in
the
supervision
of
children.
3.
Works
independently
with
minimal
supervision
and
collaborates
effectively
within
a
team.
4.
Accepts
responsibility
and
demonstrates
self-motivation.
5.
Exhibits
a
strong
work
ethic,
effective
time
management,
and
the
ability
to
multitask
efficiently.
6.

professional

ethical

interactions

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Planning
and
Preparation
a.
Review
daily
lunch
and
recess
schedules
and
routines.
b.
Prepare
cafeteria
tables,
lunch
materials,
and
recess
equipment
before
student
arrival.
c.
Familiarize
yourself
with
student
needs,
behavior
plans,
and
safety
protocols.
d.
Coordinate
with
teachers
and
staff
about
any
special
student
considerations
or
events.
2.
Environment
a.
Work
indoors
in
the
cafeteria
and
hallways,
and
outdoors
on
the
playground
or
sports
areas.
b.
Maintain
a
safe
and
inclusive
space
for
students
during
lunch
and
recess.
c.
Adapt
supervision
strategies
to
meet
the
needs
of
active
student
groups
and
varying
weather
conditions.
d.
Manage
noise,
student
interactions,
and
occasional
minor
conflicts
in
a
positive
and
calm
manner.
3.
Responsibilities
a.
Supervise
students
during
lunch
and
recess,
ensuring
safety,
order,
and
adherence
to
school
rules.
b.
Assist
students
with
opening
food
items,
cleaning
up,
and
maintaining
cafeteria
cleanliness.
c.
Encourage
positive
social
interactions
and
help
resolve
minor
conflicts
among
students.
d.
Set
up,
monitor,
and
put
away
recess
equipment
and
games.
e.
Communicate
incidents,
concerns,
or
notable
behaviors
to
administration
or
teachers
promptly.
f.
Support
teachers
and
staff
during
transitions,
student
activities,
and
special
events

WORK CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both indoors (cafeteria, hallways) and outdoors (playground, sports areas).
Exposure to noise, active student behavior, and weather conditions during outdoor recess.
Frequent interaction with students and occasional interaction with parents and staff.
Schedule aligns with school hours for lunch and recess periods, including supervision before and after
recess
as
needed.
Frequent exposure to moisture, cleaning chemicals, and food odors.
REQUIRED TRAVEL : Travel between campuses is not required.
