Job Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing both Front and Back of House operations and managing the culinary team while providing support to the Director of Food Services and contributing to the overall objectives of the Common Grounds Café. Some Sundays and Wednesday nights are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage both BOH and FOH inventory (with Director of Food Services)
• Coordinate catering events alongside the Director, overseeing food production and catering (Proverbs 16:3)
• Must be able to communicate effectively as it pertains to job responsibilities
• Write prep sheets for each department to ensure assigned tasks are completed
• Collaborate with staff on daily tasks
• Oversee produce and cookie orders
• Manage the Blend Scheduling app for BOH employees (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
• Communicate with vendors, including placing orders and handling invoices
• Maintain kitchen equipment (Luke 16:10)
• Ensure standardized recipes are followed for all preparations
• Keep a clean and safe kitchen environment in accordance with food safety regulations (1 Corinthians 10:31)
• Communicate any new information to the Director of Food Services as it arises (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
• Write and communicate daily specials to FOH staff (Proverbs 15:23)
• Supervise the production and service of school lunches
• Conduct end-of-month inventory
• Monitor food costs to maintain levels between 38-40% (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor (Colossians 3:23)
Job Skills and Competencies:
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Hold a ServSafe Food Manager Certification
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food service industry
• The ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations is critical, as well as the ability to work independently
• Excellent organization, administrative, and leadership skills (1 Corinthians 14:40)
• Social perceptiveness – being aware of diverse personalities and having Godly discernment to react and respond to situations as needed (Philippians 2:4)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) software
