Lucky Duck is the sister business to Hayward Restaurant a sweet little caf , wine shop, bakery, and culinary retail space in the heart of downtown Carlton.
We re looking for a Shop Manager to help lead the day-to-day life of Lucky Duck: someone who genuinely loves hospitality, notices the little things, enjoys working alongside a small team, and is excited to take ownership of making the shop feel warm, organized, beautiful, and well cared for.
This is a hands-on management position. You ll spend the majority of your time on the floor welcoming guests, making coffee, talking about wine and food, selling retail products, stocking shelves, supporting the team, and jumping in wherever the day needs you.
We re looking for someone who can see both the guest in front of them and the bigger picture of the shop around them.
Lead the day-to-day shop
Act as the manager on duty during scheduled shifts
Help keep caf and retail operations running smoothly
Open and close the shop
Provide warm, knowledgeable, thoughtful hospitality
Help guests with coffee, wine, food, and retail purchases
Keep the space clean, stocked, organized, and guest-ready throughout the day
Handle everyday guest concerns and communicate larger issues to senior leadership
Support the team
Work alongside and help direct our caf and retail employees
Help train and onboard new team members
Reinforce Lucky Duck s service standards and procedures
Provide thoughtful day-to-day feedback and direction
Help create a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace
Keep communication flowing between the team and senior leadership
Keep the shop stocked + beautiful
Monitor caf , retail, and operational supplies
Help with routine ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and inventory
Maintain thoughtful, tidy retail displays
Keep an eye on the details music, lighting, cleanliness, organization, and the overall feel of the space
Identify maintenance or repair needs before they become bigger problems
Help with seasonal merchandising and displays
Help bring Lucky Duck happenings to life
Assist with our pop-ups, markets, wine events, collaborations, and other special programming
Help with event setup, service, guest experience, and breakdown
Provide occasional on-site support for the Lucky Duck Airbnb when unexpected needs arise
You might be a great fit if you:
Genuinely enjoy taking care of people
Have hospitality, caf , restaurant, wine, or specialty retail experience
Are comfortable leading a small team and taking ownership of a shift
Are organized, observant, proactive, and good at following through
Can move easily between helping a guest, restocking a shelf, making a coffee, and solving a small operational problem
Communicate clearly and kindly
Care about food, wine, beautiful things, and creating spaces people want to spend time in
Don t mind rolling up your sleeves this is very much a working manager role
Are comfortable working independently while also knowing when to ask for help
Experience with coffee, wine, specialty food, or retail is wonderful; previous expereince managing staff is a very big plus.
This is a full-time, fully on-site position in Carlton.
Weekend availability is required, along with occasional evenings for events and special programming. The schedule may shift somewhat seasonally as the business evolves.
Lucky Duck is currently closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
$48,000- $55,000 annual salary, depending on experience
Participation in tips and gratuities in accordance with Oregon law
$300/month healthcare stipend after 90 days of employment
Two weeks of paid holiday during our annual company closure, generally around the Christmas and New Year's holidays.

Lucky Duck is down the street from our sister business, Hayward Restaurant, and part of Hands Please Hospitality Group. Thisrole works closely with our broader hospitality team while taking ownership of the everyday rhythm of the shop.
