We are seeking an experienced CAE Applications & Job Scheduling Engineer to support engineering and simulation applications within a high-performance computing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience supporting CAE applications, application installation/configuration, software upgrades, validation, and job submission, along with experience managing LSF job scheduling and workload management.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain CAE/engineering simulation applications.
- Support CAE application validation, benchmarking, and regression testing.
- Create and maintain environment modules and application submission templates.
- Troubleshoot CAE application and job execution issues.
- Work closely with engineering teams to support simulation workloads and application requirements.
- Support Spectrum LSF job scheduling and workload management.
- Configure and maintain LSF queues, scheduling policies, and resource requirements.
- Troubleshoot pending, failed, or incorrectly scheduled jobs.
- Support fair-share, backfill, reservations, and workload prioritization.
- Monitor workload utilization and help optimize job execution.
- Analyze application/job performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate with software vendors for CAE application issues, upgrades, and technical support.
- Support software licensing and application availability as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong experience supporting CAE applications in an engineering/simulation environment.
- Hands-on experience with CAE application installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with CAE application submission and job execution in an HPC environment.
- Strong experience with Spectrum LSF or similar workload/job scheduling tools.
- Knowledge of LSF queues, scheduling policies, resource allocation, backfill, and fair-share.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with environment modules and application submission scripts/templates.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with CAE tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, STAR-CCM+, MATLAB, or similar engineering applications.
- Experience with FlexLM/RLM licensing.
- Experience with OpenPBS/PBS Pro or other job schedulers.
- Shell/Bash or Python scripting experience.
- Experience supporting automotive or manufacturing engineering environments.
