    SUMMARY

    ORR Protection Systems is seeking a CAD Technician to support our Engineering and Design teams by producing accurate, code-compliant CAD drawings for fire and life safety systems. This role is critical in converting design concepts, field markups, and project inputs into high-quality construction, permit, and as-built drawings that meet company standards and applicable codes.

    This is a hybrid position based in our Louisville office, requiring regular in-person collaboration while also offering flexibility for remote work.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepare CAD drawings using AutoCAD based on design criteria, project requirements, and field markups

    • Convert redlines, sketches, and as-built information into accurate electronic drawings

    • Support fire suppression, fire alarm and other low-voltage system layouts in accordance with applicable codes and company standards

    • Assist designers and engineers with drawing updates, revisions, and submittal preparation

    • Maintain organized electronic drawing files, archives, and project documentation

    • Follow established CAD standards, quality procedures, and internal processes

    • Meet project deadlines while managing multiple assignments simultaneously

    • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to clarify design intent and resolve discrepancies

    • Maintain and re-supply large-format printers (plotters)

    • Participate in required training related to CAD tools, processes, and industry standards

    • Perform other duties as assigned to support department objectives

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2018 or newer preferred)

    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics

    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

    • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

    • Motivated self-starter.

    MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or equivalent, required

    • Minimum of 1 year of CAD drafting experience, required

    • Experience with fire alarm, fire suppression, or life safety system drafting, preferred

    • Experience with REVIT and 3D modeling, preferred

    • CAD certification or related coursework, preferred

    • Experience preparing permit or as-built drawings, preferred

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Hybrid schedule with required on-site work in the Louisville office three (3) days per week

    • Opportunity to work remotely up to two (2) days per week based on business needs and manager approval

    • Standard business hours, Monday through Friday

    • Primarily office-based role with extended periods of computer work

    • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or stooping

    • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate office materials as needed
