    Product Development Engineer

    Location: Williamsburg, MI

    Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 + Benefits

    Schedule: Full-Time | Exempt

    Design Innovative Products from Concept to Production

    Are you passionate about creating products that move from an idea on a whiteboard to a finished product in the hands of customers? We are seeking a Product Development Engineer to play a key role in the design, validation, and launch of innovative composite and multi-component products.

    This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering position where you'll work closely with manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams to develop robust, production-ready solutions.     What You'll Do

    Lead Product Development

    • Drive product development projects from concept through production launch.
    • Design innovative composite and multi-component assemblies that are reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
    • Support new product introductions while improving existing products for performance and quality.

    Design & Engineering

    • Create and maintain:
    • 3D CAD models
    • Engineering drawings
    • GD&T documentation
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Engineering specifications
    • Product release documentation
    • Develop designs that integrate molded plastic components, purchased hardware, sealing systems, and mechanical assemblies.

    Solve Real Engineering Challenges

    • Design and evaluate:
    • Gaskets, O-rings, and sealing systems
    • Valves and caps
    • Fasteners and attachment methods
    • Pressure-containing assemblies
    • Ensure products meet performance, durability, and reliability requirements.

    Validate & Improve Products

    • Develop test plans and validation strategies.
    • Support leak, pressure, burst, torque, and durability testing.
    • Analyze results, identify root causes, and implement design improvements.
    • Conduct tolerance stack-ups, material evaluations, DFMEAs, and engineering risk assessments.

    Collaborate Across the Organization

    • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Tooling, Purchasing, Operations, Program Management, suppliers, and customers.
    • Support prototype builds, production trials, engineering changes, and PPAP activities.
    • Present technical solutions and project updates during design reviews and customer meetings.

    What We're Looking For

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
    • Experience developing composite assemblies or multi-component products.
    • Experience integrating molded plastic components with purchased hardware.
    • Knowledge of:
    • Sealing systems and leak prevention
    • Pressure-containing assemblies
    • Environmental sealing
    • Proficiency with:
    • 3D CAD software
    • GD&T
    • Engineering drawings
    • Tolerance analysis
    • DFMEA
    • Engineering change management
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

    Preferred Experience

    • Automotive product development
    • Injection molding and engineered polymers
    • Elastomeric seals and joining methods
    • Under-hood fluid management systems
    • APQP and PPAP processes
    • Siemens NX or similar CAD platforms
    • Pressure-containing or fluid management products
