    Description

    OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

    Using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) software, develop detailed 2D/3D design drawings and specifications for products. Create, modify and/or revise designs to correct operating/product deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software
    • Work from rough sketches or unavailable sketches and specifications
    • Design products with engineering and manufacturing techniques
    • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products
    • Work under the supervision of engineers

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    Required Education/Experience

    • AA/BS degree (or equivalent) or
    • College/Technical Certificate and
    • 4+ years of experience in a CAD/Drafting capacity preferred

    Technical Skills/Knowledge

    • CAD software modeling; AutoCAD, Pro-E, SolidWorks - 3D modeling
    • Product Lifecyle Management (PLM)
    • Design; Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
    • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
    • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Knowledge of a variety of construction and finish materials including solid woods a plus

    Travel

    Periodic travel to and between the company's manufacturing locations may be required (5-10%).
