As part of the IT service delivery team supporting Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Cable and Wiring Specialist – Level III play a mission-critical role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling infrastructure that underpins BAMC’s secure medical IT systems.


Working closely with the BAMC CIO/J6 and other IT stakeholders, this position is responsible for supporting voice, video, and data communications across clinical, administrative, and classified networks. Duties include pulling, terminating, testing, and labeling copper and fiber optic cabling in accordance with industry standards, while ensuring adherence to Military Health System cybersecurity and facility compliance guidelines.


This Level III position requires a Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI) credential and one or more DoD 8570-compliant security certifications (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security). A Tier 1 federal background investigation is also required. With a minimum of six years of progressive experience, the specialist is expected to operate independently on complex tasks and may provide oversight to junior personnel or contractors during large-scale infrastructure projects.


Ultimately, this role ensures BAMC’s physical layer is secure, reliable, and scalable—supporting uninterrupted care delivery and operational readiness across one of the Department of Defense’s most vital medical facilities.
